BELLEVILLE – A woman from Belleville accused of injuring an Illinois State Police officer on the same day as an alleged DUI offense faces felony and misdemeanor charges in Madison County.

Latoya C. Brown, 48, of Belleville, was charged on May 8, 2026 with one count each of aggravated battery (a Class 2 felony), resisting or obstructing a peace officer (a Class 4 felony), and driving while under the influence (a Class A misdemeanor).

Brown allegedly drove a motor vehicle on I-55 at Illinois Route 162 in Madison County while under the influence of alcohol on May 8, 2026.

On the same date, Brown is accused of knowingly striking an Illinois State Police officer in the face, resulting in a scratch to the officer’s face. She also reportedly resisted arrest by pulling away from the officer, according to charging documents.

The Illinois State Police presented the case against Brown, who was ordered released from custody pending trial.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
