
GLEN CARBON - The Metro East High Lutheran School track and field boys captured the team title at the recent Gateway Conference Meet at Father McGivney Catholic High School.
MELHS won the meet with 133 points, followed by McGivney with 121 points, Althoff Catholic with 84 points, and Marquette Catholic with 78 points.

Jack Shank blazed the trail in the 1,600 with a first-place time of 4:43.38, followed by teammate Dean Hemmer (4:50.01). Hemmer won the 3,200 in an impressive time of 10:14.57.
Henry Reiseck, a sophomore, placed second in the 400 meters (53.98), and teammate Wyatt Goeckner was fourth (54.76).
Elijah Ball was fifth in the 800 meters (2:06.59).
Brice Stewart is fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.77).
MELHS was third in the 4 x 100 relay (46.62), fourth in the 4 x 200 relay (1:43.95), and won the 4 x 400 relay with a team of Henry Reiseck, Isaak Broekemeier, Jack Shank, and Elijah Ball with a time of 3:35.90. MELHS was second in the 4 x 800 relay (9:24.25).
Collin Kost was second in the shot put (14.19 meters) and was second in the discus (47.76 meters). Ben Schilbe was fourth in the high jump (1.56 meters).
Brice Stewart was second in the long jump (6.14 meters), and David Loethen was fourth in the event (5.86 meters). Stewart won the triple jump (12.34 meters).
