From 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday from May 9 through Oct. 17, 2026, community members can stop by the market. Located in the parking lot at the corner of Landmarks Boulevard and Henry Street in downtown Alton, the market draws crowds every weekend.
People enjoy the fresh produce and locally-sourced honey and meat, while others beeline to the artisans’ tables for jewelry, pottery, pet-themed purchases and more. With nearly 200 booths, shoppers can find a wide variety.
Alton Main Street organizes the market every year. They only accept products that are handmade by the vendor or homegrown within a 50-mile radius of Alton.
Every week has a special theme or activity for shoppers to enjoy. For Mother’s Day, this opening weekend will offer a free Mother’s Day card-making station with Jacoby Arts Center.
Other activities include artist demos, live music, and additional make-and-take crafts. The Christmas in July theme on July 4 and the Canine Carnival on Oct. 3 are always favorites.
If you use LINK or SNAP EBT food benefits, you’re encouraged to stop by the market’s info booth before you shop. Through a LinkUP Illinois grant, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar match for fresh fruits and vegetables if you swipe your card at the info booth before you buy. Most vendors can also accept SNAP benefits.
