“The purpose of this event is to give my constituents a way to recycle their old tires while also collecting food for our community,” Schmidt said. “Safely disposing old tires reduces landfill waste and creates useful products that can be used to serve other purposes.”

Organizers said residents can drive up with their tires, and Schmidt’s team will unload them and place them into the recycling truck. Schmidt’s staff will also collect nonperishable food items to deliver to local food pantries throughout the district.

For more information, residents can contact Schmidt’s office at (618) 215-1050.
