ALTONFor the fifth consecutive time OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. This is the fifth consecutive “A” which is recognized nationally with distinction for achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors.

Lisa Schepers, DNP, MBA, RN, NE-BC, Interim President of OSF Saint Anthony’s, said, “Earning five consecutive “A” grades highlights the hospital’s unwavering commitment to patient safety.” She emphasized that this achievement reflects a shared dedication from physicians, nurses, and staff to consistently deliver high-quality, safe care. Schepers also noted that recognition from The Leapfrog Group validates their patient-centered efforts and commitment to transparency, while reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement to meet the expectations of the Riverbend community.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
