ALTON – Alton’s Workforce Training Hub, located at Lewis and Clark Community College’s Scott Bibb Center, recently awarded certificates to 62 students who completed clean-energy training through Illinois’ Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).
The training equips participants with the technical skills and industry knowledge needed for entry-level positions in fields such as solar energy, efficient HVAC systems and sustainable construction. The program is designed to create equitable access to high-demand careers while supporting the state’s transition to clean energy.
Students completed hands-on instruction and coursework focused on workplace readiness, safety standards and emerging green technologies. The training not only prepares participants for employment but also connects them with potential employers and apprenticeship opportunities.
CEJA Workforce Manager Richard Darling understands these students represent the future of clean, sustainable energy.
“Our CEJA graduates are leading the way in the renewable energy sector, providing an innovative workforce ready to meet the challenges of the future with leading technologies, including Solar Energy systems, energy efficient HVAC systems and sustainably focused construction practices,” Darling said. “The CEJA Hub here at LC is extremely proud to present our graduates with opportunities for their success well into the future.”
CEJA Workforce Hubs prioritize serving individuals from communities historically underrepresented in the energy sector, helping to remove barriers to employment and create pathways to sustainable careers.
Graduates received their certificates April 30 during a ceremony at LC’s Scott Bibb Center and are now positioned to pursue job opportunities in the expanding clean energy industry.
