The Jersey junior athlete has become the best 400-meter runner in Jersey and Greene County history after his performance at the Granite City Invite.

Historically, 51 years ago in 1975, Barry Wright of Greenfield recorded a 49.9 time on a cinder track in the Dupo District and also later cracked the 49-second mark as an Eastern Illinois University 400-meter runner with a time of 48.3.

Tueth has competed on Jersey’s 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays this season. The 4x400 relay team of Michael Voegel, Matthew Bishop, Tueth and Cameron Judkins placed fifth at Granite City in 3:38.28.

At the Illinois Top Times Championships, Tueth placed fifth in the 200 meters in 22.85 and fifth in the 400 meters in 51.30.
