Godfrey Fire Protection District Chief Eric Cranmer said a pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2026, in the 5600 block of Humbert Road in Godfrey.

Chief Cranmer, who lives near the location, rushed to the scene after receiving calls about the accident. He said he did not know details about how the crash occurred, but the vehicle involved was traveling south toward Alby Street when the pedestrian was struck in the middle of Humbert Road.

“The individual was airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital,” Cranmer said. “The helicopter landed in a field at Humbert and Tolle Lane in Godfrey.”

“We worked to stabilize him the best we could to get the person stable enough to fly,” Cranmer said.

Cranmer said the person had several blunt trauma injuries. No other information was available about the individual’s condition.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Godfrey Fire Protection District members responded along with Alton Memorial Ambulance. Humbert Road was closed for some time after the crash occurred, Cranmer said.
