JERSEYVILLE – The Jersey Panthers took control early and never looked back, defeating Civic Memorial Lady Eagles 8-1 on Monday.

Jersey wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning. Anna Kribs put the Panthers ahead with a sacrifice fly, and Holly Brainerd followed with a two-run home run to left, giving Jersey a quick 3-0 advantage.
The Panthers extended their lead in the third inning, capitalizing on a Civic Memorial error before Kamryn Drainer delivered a two-run single down the left field line to break the game open.
Paxton Weirich earned the win in the circle for Jersey, allowing just two hits and one unearned run over four innings while striking out two. Jena Pegram was strong in relief, tossing three scoreless innings, giving up two hits while striking out four.
Olivia Monroe took the loss for Civic Memorial, pitching a complete game while allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts.
Brainerd led the Panthers offensively with two RBIs, while Drainer and Chloe Beemer each collected two hits.
For the Lady Eagles, Paige Winship, Emma Wade, Zoey Hunt, and Grace Burton each recorded a hit.
