Firefighters faced challenges due to limited hydrant access in the area. Tanker trucks were used to shuttle water to a portable drop tank, allowing crews to maintain a steady water supply while battling the flames. Cahokia Heights firefighters also utilized a ladder truck to help contain the blaze.

Approximately 100 vehicles were reported damaged in the fire. The tow yard primarily contained junk vehicles awaiting scrapping.
