Dennis ALTON - Dennis “Denny” Stanford of OSF HealthCare was recognized with the Lifetime Legacy Award on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Alton, where the Alton Police Department and Alton Fire Department honored him for more than 50 years of service to the community and the regional emergency services system.

Stanford is a definite Difference Maker in his community.

Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford and Fire Chief Jesse Jemison presented the award to Stanford, citing his work as an Emergency Medical Services coordinator and his role in strengthening partnerships among law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies.

“When I think of anything EMS, I immediately think of Denny. He is my first call with any EMS question,” Chief Ford said.

According to the Alton Police Department, Stanford’s efforts have improved coordination, enhanced patient care, and helped build professional relationships that continue to benefit first responders and the communities they serve.

“Denny has been a tremendous asset to our department and was instrumental in getting our Ambulance Service up and running,” Alton Fire Chief Jemison said.

The police department also said Stanford has supported the Alton Police Department by recognizing and honoring officers for their service, adding that his encouragement and appreciation have had a lasting impact on personnel.

Ford described Stanford’s legacy as one of professionalism, service, and commitment to excellence, saying it will continue to shape the regional EMS system for years to come.
