The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny Tinajero-Hernandez’s pretrial release from custody in this case. According to the petition, she was found to be in possession of the fentanyl during a stop for minor traffic infractions.

Given the “substantial” amount of narcotics involved, the petition describes Tinajero-Hernandez as “a danger to the community and a flight risk,” noting she presented a temporary California driver’s license and a Mexican identification card.

Tinajero-Hernandez faces 30-120 years in prison if convicted of controlled substance trafficking and 15-60 years if convicted on the unlawful possession charge.

The case against Tinajero-Hernandez was presented by the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois (MEGSI), a division of the Illinois State Police. She currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
