The Jersey Middle School wrestlers.JERSEY - Jersey Community Middle School wrestling returned from Northern Illinois University after placing seventh as a team at the IESA State Tournament and setting a school record with six All-State medalists, according to Jersey Community Unit School District No. 100.

The Jersey Community Middle School wrestlers are Sparklight Male Athletes of the Month for Jersey.

The Panthers competed at Northern Illinois University in the state tournament, where Colton Mueller finished second at 275 pounds to become the program’s first state finalist.

Other medalists were Roman Williams, fifth at 75; Grayson Mangara, sixth at 135; Caleb Olano, sixth at 167; Brody White, fourth at 185; and Brody Olano, fifth at 215.

The Jersey Community School District said the wrestlers were welcomed back to town “with a police escort and a warm reception from the community in the JCMS lobby.”

“It was a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments this season,” the district said.

The district also thanked the Jerseyville Police Department “for helping make the escort possible and for showing their support for our student-athletes,” and thanked community members “who came out to cheer them on and show their support.”
