Upon receiving this information, the library immediately took steps to ensure the employee no longer has access to library facilities, resources, or patrons. The employee’s primary role did not involve children’s programming.

The library maintains network security safeguards designed to prevent this type of activity on its systems. As an added precaution, the library conducted an initial review of internal network activity and accounts under the guidance of the State forensic examiner from the Illinois Attorney General’s office and has found no evidence of such activity occurring on library devices or accounts.

The Jerseyville Public Library is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues. Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to Special Investigator Larry Rayburn at 217-843-0350.

The library remains committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all members of the community.
