From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, you can enjoy food and drink specials at over a dozen local bars and restaurants in downtown Alton. There will be a free shuttle with several stops available. Cory Jobe, director of Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau, invites the community to join the fun.
“We want people to come to downtown Alton to celebrate safely,” he said. “Great food, great local owners. Come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day this Saturday.”
Bluff City Grill, Bossanova, Brown Bag Bistro, Bubby & Sissy’s, Catdaddy’s, Danny’s Lounge, Firehouse, FLOCK, Good News Brewing, Johnson’s Corner, Mac’s Downtown, Morrison’s Irish Pub, and Slotty’s are all participating on Saturday.
The free shuttle has three stops, one at the intersection of Belle and W. 3rd Street, another at the intersection of Logan and State Street, and a third at the intersection of George and E. Broadway.
Jobe encourages attendees to find a designated driver and bring them along to enjoy sodas and coffee throughout the day. He emphasized that Alton’s food and restaurant scene is a great, “unique” spot for both tourists and locals to explore.
“We’ve got a great downtown, unique shops and businesses that offer a unique experience and products,” he said. “While people are here for the St. Pat's Pub Crawl, we really want them to get out and explore our local shops and local entrepreneurs that line Broadway and Third and State Street.”
As an organization, Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau is focused on bringing people to the Alton area to support local businesses, events and experiences. The organization partnered with The RiverBend Growth Association, Guinness, Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, and RiverBank Marketing to host the St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl, which is a long tradition in Alton.
Jobe hopes many people come out on Saturday to “visit our local shops and restaurants and bars, spend some money, and enjoy.” He noted that Alton residents “reap the benefits” of welcoming non-residents to town for special events like this because these events encourage spending.
He added that the beginning of the year is usually a little slower for tourism and business in Alton. The goal of the St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl, in addition to being a fun way to celebrate, is to bring people to town and encourage them to enjoy everything Alton has to offer.
“We have such a unique community that’s filled with endless potential,” Jobe said. “Those individuals attending those unique events, you just never know who they might be. They might be looking for a new place to live, they might want to invest in our community, or they might be looking to retire. You just never know who that visitor might be attending the Pub Crawl on Saturday or other events that are coming up all summer long.”
