“I’m honored to be recognized by the Biden Institute as a woman whose leadership and service has helped inspire others and make our nation stronger,” said Duckworth. “From the day my helicopter was shot down to the ongoing work I’m doing to help Illinois families, there’s not a thing I would change. It’s a privilege to be able to continue serving the American people, and I encourage every young girl and grown woman with a passion for service to be bold, take that next right step and go make a difference in your community.”

Past recipients of the Valerie Biden Owens Woman of Power & Purpose Award include Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-11), Dr. Opal Lee and Judge Tamika Montgomery-Reeves.
