BELLEVILLE - Officer Rodney Wilson is retiring from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office after 20 years of service that began Feb. 19, 2006, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

Wilson started his career with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department as a member of the Auxiliary Deputy Program and later served with the Auxiliary Deputy Mounted Patrol.
Over the years, he also served as an intelligence officer assigned to the jail, a firearms range master, and a correctional academy instructor with the St. Clair County Correctional Officer Academy.
In August 2011, Wilson became a certified police officer.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department credited Wilson with making a lasting impact through his service.
“Rodney’s dedication, professionalism, and passion for service have left a lasting impact on the Sheriff’s Department and the community he served,” the department said in a statement.
The department also recognized his role and tenure in its message to him.
“On behalf of the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, we thank you, Correctional Officer Rodney Wilson, for twenty years of loyal and committed service,” the statement said. “Your work has made a difference, and your legacy will remain with us.”
