BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE junior first baseman Ryan Niedzwiedz (North Aurora, Illinois) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference baseball Player of the Week after leading the Cougars to three wins during the week.

Niedzwiedz amassed an OPS of 1.447 for the week, including a slugging percentage of nearly .950. He hit .421 in five games with three home runs and nine runs batted in.

He was 1-5 with a double Tuesday before going 7-14 in the four-game series against Eastern Michigan with three homers, nine RBIs and seven runs scored. He opened the series with a monster night Friday, going 3-4 while hitting two home runs and driving in six runs. He homered again in game two of the Saturday doubleheader. He finished the series going 2-4 Sunday with two runs.

The award is the first of Niedzwiedz's career.

The Cougars are scheduled to face Bradley Tuesday afternoon at Simmons Baseball Complex before traveling to Kansas State for a weekend series beginning Friday.
