WESTMONT - Edwardsville's Derek Ruehl finished 16th in the one-meter springboard diving event, while Jackson Suhre finished 16th overall, eighth in the B final, as the only two competitors to advance to the finals of the IHSA boys swimming and diving meet, held over the weekend at FMC Natatorium in Westmont.

The Tigers finished in a tie for 41st in the final standings with Lockport Township with two points apiece. Hinsdale Central won the team title with 251 points, with Aurora Marmion Academy placing second at 215 points, third place went to Glenview Glenbrook South at 203 points, in fourth place was Winnetka New Trier with 189 points, and LaGrange Lyons Township rounded out the top five with 149 points.

Ruehl scored 315.40 points in the semifinals on Friday afternoon to advance to the finals, and had a score of 412.85 overall to finish 16th in the diving competition, while Suhre finished eighth in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.59. In Friday's preliminaries, he qualified for the B final, finishing 16th overall with a time of 4:40.36.

In Friday's preliminaries, the Tigers' 200-yard medley relay team of Andre Myers, Mason Voss, Bryce Seymour, and Daniel Wang finished 38th at 1:40,00, and missed out on the finals, while in the 200-yard freestyle, Oliver Williams of the Panthers placed 23rd with a time of 1:43.99, and Suhre was 33rd at 1:46.38, both failing to advance. In the 200-yard individual medley, Voss finished 41st at 2:00.73, while in the 50-yard freestyle, Bryce Light of O'Fallon First Baptist Academy finished 23rd with a time of 21.55 seconds, both failing to advance.

In the first round of the diving competition, Ruehl finished 15th with 212.05 points to advance to the semifinals, then finished in 15th again in the semifinals with his 315.40 score to move on to the finals. In the 100-yard butterfly, Myers finished in 38th with a time of 53.37 seconds, while in the 100-yard freestyle, Light finished 35th with a time of 47.78 seconds, both swimmers failing to advance.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, O'Fallon's team of San Carroll Dayne Crisio, Justin King, and Williams finished in 27th with a time of 1:27.98, missing out on the finals, while in the 100-yard backstroke, Myers came in 33rd at 52.40 seconds, and also failed to qualify for the finals. Voss was 38th in the 100-yard breaststroke, having a time of 59.93 seconds, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of the Panthers' Victor Stafford, Carroll, King, and Williams finished 29th at 3:16.14, all failing to advance to the finals.
