Simmons Hanly Conroy Partner Andrew S. Murrie Receives 2026 ‘Legal Champion Award’ from Missouri Lawyers

ALTON – Simmons Hanly Conroy, a national leader in the legal representation of mesothelioma patients and their families, is pleased to announce that Andrew S. Murrie, a partner in the firm’s Alton office, has been selected as a 2026 “Legal Champion” by Missouri Lawyers Media.

The Missouri Lawyers Awards recognize lawyers who made an impact in the previous year. The “Legal Champion” award is presented to plaintiffs or defense attorneys based on the importance of the principal or policy at stake in the attorney’s work. Murrie was formally recognized at the Missouri Lawyers Awards ceremony that took place in St. Louis on Feb. 12.

“We believe that Andy’s hard work advocating for his clients makes him a legal champion in his community and within the legal industry and deserving of Missouri Lawyers Media recognition as a ‘Legal Champion,’ ” said Simmons Hanly Conroy Managing Partner Laurence V. Nassif. “Andy’s cases showcase the personal, practical and legal complexities involved in high-value and extremely work-intensive asbestos litigation.”

Murrie focuses his practice on helping individuals and families impacted by asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma. Experienced in all aspects of litigation and with first-chair jury trial experience in Madison County, Illinois, Murrie has helped secure asbestos case settlements resulting in more than $500 million for his clients. He manages dozens of cases each year across approximately 15 jurisdictions, a notable achievement given the complexity of asbestos litigation. In the past year,

Murrie secured settlements totaling nine figures for asbestos exposure victims in numerous cases filed in St. Louis and throughout the country. His recent efforts also have involved overcoming challenges, including those related to litigating cases that can stretch back decades, as well as the need to move as quickly as possible because mesothelioma is incurable and almost always fatal. Other challenges with mesothelioma cases in Missouri are uniquely tied to the cases’ involvement with the workers’ compensation system, the civil tort system, and claims against employers and third parties. Murrie received his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
