ROXANA — As the only senior on Gillespie’s girls basketball roster in the 2025-26 season, Sadie Sholtis emerged as a central figure for the team, providing leadership during a year that ended with a 17-13 record.

Sholtis, a 5-foot-9 multi-sport athlete who also participates in softball and volleyball, was a middle hitter in volleyball. Gillespie coach Nikki Brawner said Sholtis’s approach set a standard for the rest of the squad.

“An ideal role model,” Brawner said of Sholtis.

“She served as a role model on how hard work can translate into success,” Coach Brawner said. “She has only been playing basketball for four years and had a tremendous senior season. We are going to miss her greatly next year.”
