As the investigation continued, deputies developed a suspect and determined that the suspect and victims were familiar with each other, the sheriff’s office said.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, deputies located the suspect near the area of the shooting scene, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect was in a vehicle and “immediately fled from Deputies,” the agency said, prompting a pursuit.

The pursuit traveled along Collinsville Road and other roadways before entering St. Louis, Missouri, according to the sheriff’s office. With assistance from other Illinois and Missouri police departments, the pursuit ended on Interstate 70 in Bridgeton, Mo., where authorities said a loaded firearm and suspected illegal drugs were found.

The sheriff’s office said the case was presented to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the suspect, Chase R. Lindsay, 30, of the 4200 block of Michigan Avenue in St. Louis, was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender (Class X Felony)
