The Eagles are now 14-15 with the win.

CM Coach Lee Green said Southwestern has continued to improve and gave his Eagles quite a game. He said his team's outscoring the Piasa Birds in the fourth period was the key to the game.

"Coach Darr does a great job, and they really play hard," Coach Green added. "It took us a good fourth quarter to beat them. I think our kids are stepping up and playing good basketball."

In two other games played on Wednesday, Mt. Vernon defeated Belleville Althoff Catholic 48-42, and Mt. Sterling Brown County won at Carrollton 59-55.

CM plays at Mascoutah on Friday, Feb. 20, to close the regular season. Southwestern hosts North Mac on Friday, Feb. 20.
