GILLESPIE - Two Gillespie High School seniors interested in veterinary medicine toured the Animal Medical Center of Litchfield recently, speaking with clinic staff about careers in the field, according to a message from Jordan Bartok, the school district’s Gear Up district coordinator.

Ava Segarra and Ceanna Bearden (shown left to right above) visited the clinic in Litchfield, where they “were able to tour the clinic and spend time talking with one of the doctors,” Bartok said. During the visit, they also spoke with the office manager and a veterinarian about “daily responsibilities, career pathways, and what it takes to work in veterinary medicine.”

“A big thank you to Litchfield Animal Medical Center for welcoming two of our senior girls who are interested in going into veterinary medicine,” Bartok said.

Bartok said both students plan to pursue veterinary medicine after graduation. Bearden plans to attend Illinois State University, while Segarra plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

“The girls left even more excited about what’s to come,” Bartok said. “We are proud to see these students exploring their future careers and gaining real-world insight into a field they are passionate about.”
