EDWARDSVILLE - Maryville Christian School’s varsity boys basketball team edged Metro East Lutheran 62-60 at Metro East Lutheran High on Friday night, Feb. 6, 2026, improving to 14-9 overall.

Maryville Christian sophomore Nolan Hite had a sensational game and led Maryville Christian with 23 points, and was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Lions junior Braden Waymire scored 10 points, and junior teammate Gavin Ambuehl added 12.

Maryville Christian Head Coach Mark Allaria credited his team’s approach and progress.

“Our guys played with extreme energy and passion tonight,” Coach Allaria said. “They have continued to keep working hard and getting better and better throughout the season.

"I am very happy that they got to experience winning in a tough environment like that against a very good Metro East Lutheran team. I am so proud of the grit, growth, and resilience shown by our varsity basketball Lions. It was a big road win for our Lions.”
