EDWARDSVILLE - Metro-East Lutheran’s boys basketball team has had a big week. The Knights picked up back-to-back wins this week, defeating Father McGivney Catholic on Tuesday and Southwestern on Wednesday, and will host rival Maryville Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Metro-East Lutheran led all the way in a 56-42 Gateway Metro Conference upset over Father McGivney at Hooks Gym. Father McGivney scored 14 points in the first quarter and four in the second, while Metro-East Lutheran posted 13 in the first and 14 in the second to take control at halftime. Metro-East Lutheran finished with 19 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
On Wednesday, Metro-East Lutheran beat Southwestern 53-45 in a game that was tied 8-8 after the first quarter. Metro-East Lutheran outscored Southwestern 23-19 in the third quarter and held even at 9-9 in the fourth to secure the victory.
