BELLEVILLE — Belleville Township High School District 201 officials addressed concerns Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, about reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement presence at district schools this week, following social media posts linked to a naturalization ceremony scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at Belleville West High School.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2026, the Belleville School District 201 administration clarified that an earlier email sent to faculty and staff was intended as "general guidance and a proactive response" to their questions about potential ICE activity during the event.

“This communication was not indicative of imminent ICE activity at any location in District 201,” the statement said. “We have no reason to believe that there will be an ICE presence in the district.”

The social media posts had raised speculation about possible enforcement actions coinciding with the naturalization ceremony on Jan. 30, 2026. District officials emphasized that the email was not meant to signal any such presence or action.
