MADISON COUNTY/ST. LOUIS - At approximately 4:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, a Madison County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Silverado on Nameoki Road in Granite City for a traffic violation and to investigate suspected criminal activity, according to Chief Deputy Marcos Pulido. The driver fled, prompting a multi-jurisdictional vehicle pursuit that extended through Granite City, unincorporated areas, and neighboring cities.

Pulido said several local police departments assisted in the chase, deploying stop sticks that caused the vehicle’s tires to deflate. Despite this, the driver continued fleeing into St. Louis, crossing the Stan Musial Bridge before the vehicle became disabled near Tucker Avenue and Hickory Street.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, and two juvenile passengers were taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities determined the driver was a fugitive with multiple felony warrants, including an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation and a charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He remains in custody in Missouri pending extradition to Illinois, where additional felony charges are expected.

The two juvenile passengers were released to their guardians following the arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
