Secretary Pete Hegseth has named Maj. Gen. Lance Curtis as the PPA's first commander.

Following the announcement, Curtis shared why this reform was necessary, “when our Warfighters are worried about their household goods, they aren’t focused on their mission." Curtis continued, "we are ending that distraction. Mission readiness is non-negotiable.”

Although headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, the new headquarters will serve all U.S. Department of War personnel, as they relocate and ship their household goods to their next duty assignment, what is commonly referred to as a permanent change of station (PCS) move. The PPA will have its own acquisition, legal, and resource management experts. These added capabilities propel the PPA’s ability to act swiftly, hold moving companies accountable, and improve the relocation experience for service members, civilians, and their families.

“Every minute a service member spends fighting a household goods issue is a minute they aren’t focused on the mission,” Curtis shares, “Our job is to give them that time back.
