EDWARDSVILLE - The Edwardsville Rotary Club has chosen to honor Edwardsville High School student Madeline Redden with the Student of the Month Award for January. Madeline was nominated by Edwardsville High School chemistry teacher, Melissa Barnett.
Madeline is the daughter of Brad and Jessica Redden and is eighteen years old. Madeline is a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society at EHS. She is a member of the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois and is the FIRST Teach Challenge Team Captain. Madeline is captain of FIRST Robotics Challenge Team and head coach of FIRST Lego League. Additionally, she is a FIRST Teach Challenge mentor.

Madeline has spent over five hundred hours promoting STEM through robotics. She was awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award for running cybersecurity clubs at both district seven middle schools. Madeline is an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Outside of school, Madeline enjoys robotics, reading and traveling. Madeline hopes to study chemical engineering and build a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Edwardsville Rotary Club recognizes a student each month, September through April. Each May, Edwardsville High School staff chooses one of the monthly winners to receive the $2,000 Edwardsville EHS Rotary Scholarship. The awards have been given since 1996 and the Edwardsville Rotary Club has given out over $35,000 in scholarships to date.
