EAST ST. LOUIS — East St. Louis School District 189 hosted its annual Alumni Panel on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, bringing together nine former East St. Louis High School Flyers to share insights with current seniors preparing for college and career paths.

The event, organized by the district’s College & Career Readiness Team, took place during the holiday break and featured alumni who are currently attending colleges such as Howard University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Xavier University in Louisiana, and Northern Illinois University.

More than 40 seniors participated in the panel discussion aimed at helping them navigate decisions about college selection, scholarships, course choices, and balancing academics with life responsibilities.

“We are so proud of our Flyers who shared their wisdom today, and we are excited to support the Class of 2026 as they make decisions this semester for their futures,” the district said in a statement.

East St. Louis School District 189 continues to emphasize educational experiences that prepare students for success beyond high school.

The annual Alumni Panel is part of ongoing efforts to provide guidance and resources to students as they plan their next steps after graduation.
