Cannan Cook, an East Alton-Wood River standout wrestler.WOOD RIVER - Canaan Cook, a senior at East Alton-Wood River High School, is being recognized for his participation in wrestling. Under the guidance of coach Tim Donohoo, Cook has been involved in the sport for four years.

He describes wrestling as a unique experience that fosters a strong sense of brotherhood, especially within a small team that travels frequently together.

Cook is a Midwest Members Credit Union Male Athlete of the Month for the Oilers.

Outside of athletics, he enjoys bowling, playing basketball and guitar.

Reflecting on his high school career, Cook said his involvement in sports has taught him that "nothing can last forever, and do as much as you can before it's too late."

Although he does not plan to continue wrestling in college nor has he declared a specific major or career path, his athletic experiences have clearly shaped his outlook.

Coach Tim Donohoo has worked with Cook throughout his wrestling tenure, supporting his development on and off the mat, the senior wrestler said.
