The Shells’ performance qualified them to join other top teams from the region, including Columbia, East Alton-Wood River, Farmington Central, DuQuoin, Wilmington, Pontiac and Greenville, among several others, who will compete for state honors. Columbia enters the state meet as the top seed.
“The Shells came in fourth place in the Small Varsity Division in the recent Edwardsville competition," the Roxana School District administration said in a statement. "With this result, the Shells have qualified for the ICCA State Competition in Springfield in January. Great job, girls!”
The ICCA, established in 1982, aims to promote continuous development among Illinois cheerleading athletes and coaches and foster leadership and knowledge among coaches to guide their teams toward successful seasons.
The organization’s annual state competition is a key event in achieving these goals.
