CASEYVILLE - Caseyville Police has issued a statement about the 3-year-old toddler who was wandering on the second floor of Red Lion Inn in Caseyville on Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, 2025.

"The child is currently healthy and safe. Due to social media, the parents were made aware of the whereabouts of their child and responded to the Caseyville Police Department," the Caseyville Police Department said. "This case is under investigation by both the Caseyville Police Department and DCFS. We will not release a large amount of information due to the preliminary stages of the investigation. We thank the public for the overwhelming support and sharing of this matter."

Caseyville officers responded to the motel at 8950 Tucker Drive on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, after the Department of Children and Family Services requested assistance.

Upon arrival, Caseyville Police knocked on every room and made contact with several individuals, but were unable to locate a parent or guardian for the child.
