WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced $789,426 in federal grant funding for fire departments in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District. The funds will be awarded to the City of Wood River, Chatham Village, the City of Collinsville, the Mount Olive Fire Protection District, and the Girard Fire Protection District as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.
“I’m thrilled to announce more than $789,000 to support fire departments across Central and Southern Illinois. My team and I work closely with local municipalities to connect them with the federal resources they need, so I am excited to see these critical dollars come home to our communities,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “Our first responders put their lives on the line every day, and these grants will make sure that they have the equipment, training, and technology needed to stay safe on the job.”
