BARRY - Calhoun-Brussels defeated Western 44-26 Thursday night, Dec. 4, 2025, in a non-conference girls basketball game in Barry, overcoming early foul trouble and shooting difficulties to secure the win.
The Lady Warriors (1-3) struggled through a sluggish first half, with foul trouble and a poor performance from beyond the arc limiting their scoring. However, a strong fourth-quarter run allowed Calhoun-Brussels to pull away from Western.

Scoring for Calhoun-Brussels were Anna Eberlin with 11 points, Addi Ross with 6, Riley Pohlman with 6, Sadie Kiel with 8, Bralyn Lammy with 7, Lizzy Hagen with 2, Layla Longnecker with 3, and Mya Sievers with 1. The team made 11 two-point field goals, 2 three-pointers, and converted 16 of 23 free throws while committing 18 fouls.
Western was led by Sophie Rennecker with 10 points, followed by Reese Bushmeyer with 6, Alysa Bareis with 3, Macy Oitker with 3, and both Paisley Patterson and Alexis McMullen with 4 points each.
The team made 9 two-point field goals, missed all three-point attempts, and converted 10 of 22 free throws, committing 15 fouls.
Coach Mark Hillen said the Warriors had foul trouble and had trouble shooting from the three-point line.
"We had the fourth-quarter run that put the game out of reach," the coach said.
Calhoun-Brussels is scheduled to play at Father McGivney for a 5:30 p.m. start this Saturday.
