EAST ALTON — Edwardsville High's boys hockey team shut out Collinsville 9-0 in a hockey game on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at East Alton, showcasing a dominant offensive performance.

The game saw Edwardsville take an early lead in the first period with goals from Blake Huneke at 7:54, Will Whittaker at 10:04, and Luke Hankins at 13:54. Gavin Osborn assisted on two of those early goals.
Edwardsville continued to build momentum in the second period, scoring three more times. Reed Poettker found the net at 13:27, followed by Chase Schumann at 13:56 and Gavin Osborn at 13:28. Assists came from Blake Huneke, Reed Wolfe, and others.
In the third period, Edwardsville added three additional goals. Luke Hankins scored at 2:45 with helpers from Blake Huneke and Chase Schumann. Zach Johnson scored at 6:49, assisted by Jackson Ruf and Reed Wolfe. Ben Kusmerczak closed out the scoring at 13:59 with assists from Cole Wigton and Gavin McNamee.
Edwardsville will next play Belleville on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 8:15 p.m. at the R.P. Lumber Center in Edwardsville. They will then face Clayton on Friday, Dec. 5, at the same venue and time.
