PONTOON BEACH – Holiday cheer is once again hitting the streets of Madison County as Madison County Transit’s (MCT) “Holiday Bus” rolls out for the 2025 season. The festive tradition offers surprise complimentary rides to passengers throughout December, reflecting MCT’s appreciation for the community members they serve. In 2024, the Holiday Bus provided nearly 5,000 free rides to passengers throughout the county.

From December 1 through December 31, the Holiday Bus will circulate daily on three MCT vehicles of varying sizes, rotating among routes throughout the MCT service area. Riders who board one of these special buses will spot a farebox wrapped like a holiday gift letting them know their trip is free. Select buses may also be decorated with festive touches to make the ride a little brighter this holiday season.

“The Holiday Bus is something our riders look forward to all year,” said MCT Managing Director SJ Morrison. “People love the small moment of surprise when they realize their ride is free, and our drivers enjoy being part of something that brings a little extra joy to their daily commute.”

Residents are encouraged to hop on an MCT fixed-route bus this December to discover if they’ve found one of this year’s MCT Holiday Buses.
