
GRANITE CITY – Two Granite City men have been charged in separate domestic battery cases filed in Madison County.

Ivan T. Goheen, 28, of Granite City, was charged on Nov. 14, 2025 with his second or subsequent offense of domestic battery, a Class 4 felony.
Goheen allegedly caused bodily harm to a family or household member by striking the victim about the face with his hand on Oct. 25, 2025. Charging documents note Goheen had previously been convicted of domestic battery in a prior Madison County case from 2023.
The latest domestic battery case against Goheen was presented by the Granite City Police Department, and he was granted pretrial release from custody.
In a separate case, James E. Alexander, 35, also of Granite City, was charged on Nov. 20, 2025 with one count each of aggravated domestic battery (a Class 2 felony) and domestic battery/bodily harm (a Class A misdemeanor).
On Oct. 25, 2025, Alexander reportedly caused great bodily harm to a household or family member by grabbing the victim’s right wrist and forearm and twisting, causing the victim to sustain a radial fracture. He is additionally accused of applying pressure with his arm and hands to the same victim’s neck on the same day.
The Pontoon Beach Police Department presented the case against Alexander, who was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
