"Smart technology and system-hardening upgrades are critical to keeping our customers' lights on when severe weather strikes," says Tim Lafser, senior vice president of Energy Delivery and Operations Technical Services for Ameren Missouri. "These enhancements allow us to rapidly detect and isolate outages, restore power faster, and provide customers with greater reliability and peace of mind."

In Illinois, Ameren has made significant investments including automation to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages and stronger equipment to withstand the impacts of severe weather. Over the last 12 years, those grid improvements have increased reliability by more than 23%, helped avoid more than 6.5 million outages and saved customers more than $2 billion in outage-related costs.

Ameren has also added two custom-designed mobile command centers to its emergency preparedness fleet, which includes storm material trailers and mobile substations. Crews will be able to drive them wherever problems arise. This adaptability and portability will help increase response and restoration times.

"Ameren continually looks at technology and equipment to enhance the resiliency of our energy grid, improve customer reliability and reduce power outages in the aftermath of severe weather," said Luke Wollin, Senior Vice President, Electric Operations and Distribution for Ameren Illinois. "We feel our mobile command centers will have an immediate impact on our restoration efforts moving forward."

Each project Ameren undertakes is a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. By strengthening the energy grid today, Ameren is not only supporting reliability but also paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
