HARDIN — Calhoun slipped past Greenfield-Northwestern 22-14 in an overtime thriller during the second round of the IHSA Class 1A playoffs Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Calhoun High School.

The closely contested game saw both teams trading scores throughout regulation before Calhoun secured the win in extra time.

Neither team scored in the first quarter. Greenfield-Northwestern struck first in the second quarter when Rich Ross caught a 73-yard pass from quarterback Ty Bowman, though the team’s two-point conversion attempt failed.

Also in the second quarter, Calhoun responded with a touchdown pass from Earl Elmore to Jack Goode, covering 13 yards. Goode also kicked the extra point, to move the Warriors ahead 7-6 at the half.

In the third quarter, Goode caught another touchdown pass from Elmore, this time for 15 yards, and again converted the extra point, putting Calhoun ahead.

Greenfield-Northwestern answered in the fourth quarter with a 47-yard touchdown reception by Jason Hoots from Bowman. Kayden Roberts scored the two-point conversion on a pass from Bowman. Neither team scored additional points in regulation, leaving the score tied at 14-14.

In overtime, Calhoun clinched the victory when Goode ran 10 yards for a touchdown. Jake Brannan completed a two-point conversion run. The final score was 22-14 in favor of Calhoun.

Casey (Westfield) dominated Nokomis 48-14 and will now host the Warriors in a playoff matchup next weekend.
