About this event

Do you have unwanted and/or expired medications?  Not sure where or how to dispose of them?  

On April 27th, you will have your chance to dispose of those medications safely and for FREE!

10:00-2:00pm

Alton Police Department - Front Lobby

1700 E Broadway

In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Drug Free Alton Coalition and the City of Alton, the Alton Police Department will be collecting all unwanted and/or expired medications.

Accepted Items Include: Prescription medicactions, vitamins, over-the-counter medications, hormones, painkillers, and anitbiotics.

NOT Accepted Items Include: Hypodermic needles, intravenous soluations, mercury thermometers, hearing aides, oxygen tanks, or other household waste.

Useful Information

  • Simply walk into the Police Department, hand the medication to the officer and they will place all items into the disposal container.
  • You do NOT have to removed labels, but can if you wish.
  • Do NOT remove all medications from their containers and place into a plastic bag.  The police department suggests keeping them in the container
  • You may keep items in their boxes, bottles and packages
  • Please read the NOT ACCEPTED items.  These items are not accepted in order to keep our officers and other officials safe and out of harms way
