Join astronomer Steve Sands for a new program at the Tower. Sands, a member of the St. Louis Astronomical Society, is bringing equipment for guests to look at the sun. Witness solar activities that you cannot see with the naked eye. Sands will discuss facts about the sun, for example how we are currently heading into the peak of the solar cycle. Use equipment that makes it safe to view these rare experiences.
Sun gazing should only be conducted with the proper equipment and with the presence of a professional. Looking at the sun without proper equipment may cause injury to the eye, including blindness. This activity may not be suitable for very young kids and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are $5. Reservations are accepted but not required. You may make reservations by calling the Tower at (618) 251-9101 or by emailing events@ConfluenceTower.com.
