Welcome to the Alton Area Senior Softball League (AASSL)
The Alton Area Senior Softball League (AASSL) is a volunteer-run recreational slow-pitch softball league for men 55 years of age and older. Proudly associated with the Alton Parks & Recreation Department, our league brings together players from Alton and surrounding communities to enjoy the game of softball while promoting friendship, exercise, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
?? Who Can Play? • Men age 55+ • All skill and experience levels are welcome. • Whether you've played your whole life or haven't picked up a glove in years, we'd love to have you join us.
?? Where We Play Gordon Moore Park – Field #3 4550 College Avenue Alton, Illinois
?? Season Thursday mornings from April through October (with a short summer break around the Fourth of July).
?Schedule • 8:30 AM – Stretching, warm-ups & batting practice • Approximately 9:00 AM – Game time • Games typically conclude around noon.
What Makes AASSL Different? ? No league fees or registration costs ? New pickup teams are formed every week ? No obligation to attend every Thursday—play whenever you're available ? Safety-focused rules designed specifically for senior players ? USA Softball-approved equipment and local safety rules are used.
Our goal is simple: provide a fun, welcoming environment where players can stay active, enjoy friendly competition, and build lasting friendships.
