Community Science and Plan t Phenology - Age 11-14 Join us for our brand new drop-off program specif ically for homeschool students. Specifically designed to integrate math an d language skills into a nature-based science lesson, each session will h ave a unique focus. This spring, students aged 11-14 will become phenolog ists: scientists who study cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena. We will observe and document the living and nonliving factors that contribute to t he spring changes in the forest, such as when and where leaves and flower s start to appear. Let's branch out!
Be sure to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Masks are required . Please note: This is a drop-off program. Parents do not need to attend. Children who are not registered for the program may not be brought to cla ss, including all siblings. All children must be pre-registered for the program. A waiver and behavior expectations sheet must be signed and turne d in upon drop-off. Only children that match the age group will be permitt ed to attend the program.
Program Format
Our homeschool program me ets three times per year, in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. All programs take place from 10:00am-12:00pm on the day they are scheduled.
Program Fee
$10 per student
Parents and Siblings
This is a drop-off prog ram. Parents do not need to attend. If you choose to attend, we would lik e to stress the importance of your active participation. We also ask that you turn off all cell phones and other distractions for the duration of th e visit. Children who are not registered for the program may not be brough t to class, including all siblings. Please make arrangements for other ch ildren on the dates of your visits. You are welcome to explore the preserv e, use the play area, or have a picnic with your other children while yo u wait to pick up the child participating in the program.
Expected Beha vior
Please prepare your child by helping them understand appropriate g roup-learning behaviors, which include:
Raising hands before shoutin g out questions or ideas Taking turns and sharing Staying with the g roup Being respectful to classmates and teacher
These are essential for a productive learning experience.
