The theme will be “Standing Up—Advocating for Equity” and will take place via ZOOM on Sat., February 20 at 10:00. The featured books Speak Up by Miranda Paul and Intersectional Allies—We Make Room for All by Carolyn Choi, Latoya Council, and Chelsea Johnson are appropriate for children ages 4-10 years. The first ten families will receive free copies of the books plus learning activity supplies. The event is free but registration is required at https://tinyurl.com/4dffldjv. Hosted by Alton YWCA, Diverstory is a series of three sessions where children and their grownups come together to listen to a children’s story about diversity and engage in guided conversations about diversity, inclusion, and race. The first ten families to register will receive a copy of both books as well as an activity kit to continue intentional conversations about race. Intersectional Allies is for children ages 6-12 and Speak Up is for children ages 4-7. Facilitated by Becky Cowart and Georgia Bratton.
