This Sunday, May 20,2018 International Singing Star Christine Brewer will perform a free concert at 3:00 pm. The concert is being held to benefit the food pantry at Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City. It will be held in the church at 260 Washington Avenue, Granite City beginning at 3:00 pm. Admission is free but a donation of a non-perishable food item to restock the food bank for the summer is requested. The American Chamber Chorale welcomes soprano Christine Brewer as guest artist. You won't want to miss this opportunity to hear Ms. Brewer. Anthony Tommasini of the New York Times has written the following: "Grammy Award-winning American soprano Christine Brewer's appearances in opera, concert, and recital are marked by her own unique timbre, at once warm and brilliant, combined with a vibrant personality and emotional honesty reminiscent of the great sopranos of the past. Named one of the top 20 sopranos of all time (BBC Music), her range, golden tone, boundless power and control make her a favorite of the stage and a highly sought-after recording artist, one who is 'in her prime and sounding glorious' Joining Ms. Brewer will be the American Chamber Chorale and 28-piece Salem Orchestra from St. Louis, Missouri. Stephen Morton, conductor of the chorale says “there will be no finer way to spend a hot Sunday afternoon then in the cool Holy Family Church sanctuary listening to our free Hearts All Whole Concert and feeding the less fortunate”. You will hear selections composed by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Howard Helvey, Frank Ticheli, Morten Lauridsen, Stephen Chatman and Z. Randall Stroope. Texts for their compositions were written by poets including James Agee, Christina Rossetti, Sara Teasdale, Robert Frost, Horace Everett and Jones Very. The American Chamber Chorale is in its’ 17th year of operation. It is open, by audition, to interested singers, professional and amateur, throughout the metro St. Louis area. Dr. Harvey Chiles is the music director of Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City and has sung with the American Chamber Chorale for four years. The concert is casual dress and you are encouraged to bring children to hear this wonderful choir, orchestra and to experience the gifts of Christine Brewer
