Is it a meal? Or is it a worship service? It's both!
The early Christians gathered around a sacred meal to celebrate communion with God and with one another. MetroFeast is our Lenten practice of doing the same thing.
We will gather at 6:30 (or a bit earlier if you'd like to help set up) with an introduction and song. We will share in a meal together including the communion elements of bread and sparkling grape juice. We will read scripture together and learn from one another. Finally, we'll close with prayer and help clean up.
FAQs
-What's the cost? It's free! Members of LoveJoy United Presbyterian Church have signed up to provide a simple meal each week. We will collect an offering for our Good Samaritan local mission fund.
-Can I bring my kids? Yes! Kids are most welcome. We'll try to let you know ahead of time what we're going to be eating––if your kid is picky, you can always pack a PBJ! We want don't want to rush our time together, so If your little one is getting tired, feel free leave early.
-Do I have to be a member of LoveJoy United? Nope! All are welcome to God's dinner table.
-Is this really communion? Yes! Though it will be in a different format than what you're probably used to, it has all the same elements of prayer, scripture, proclamation, bread, and cup.
-What will we eat? Depends on what our cook for the week is making. Once we know we'll post it here on facebook. If you do have specific dietary needs, please let us know, or feel free to bring your own mea.
-Will they all be at the Church? All but one will be in the Fellowship Hall at the church. On March 7, we will be at RoxArena because our building will be in use for the rummage sale. Get Directions: http://bit.ly/2BSylrM
