Mississippi River Water Trail presents MISSISSIPPI MEANDERINGS, a speaker series on Saturday evening, January 20th from 4:00 to 8:00pm. The entry fee is $13.50 and includes a taco buffet at the Old Bakery Brewery in Alton IL. Outdoor enthusiasts are looking for something to do in January when ice is on the river and snow is on the ground, come share food, fun, and drinks with like minded people in your area. Prior registration is required at https://mississippimeanderings.brownpapertickets.com
Speakers include Bryan Hopkins, an avid big river paddler and racer. He will provide an introductory discussion on paddling on the Mississippi, Mississippi River 101. This will include equipment recommendations and what to look for while on the water.
Our second speakers are Carol Heddinghaus and Yolandea Wood who just this year completed the 2,200 mile paddle down the length of the Mississippi from "Source to Sea". From Minnesota to Louisiana, these ladies will share stories, photos, gear, and survival that were part of their 2 month experience of the river in 2017.
Last is Porsche Schlapper, Curator at the Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library. She will share the rich history of our great river from Saverton, MO to Cairo IL
