As a part of our 175th Anniversary celebrations, First Congregational Church will host “Dark Stories from Our Past” at the church at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, October 19.
While it is only natural to whitewash our past, the reality is that those who have gone before us were imperfect people who attempted to serve God in a broken world. Murder, charges of heresy, opposition to ministry, and other tragic events have all touched the 175 year history of First Congregational.
Join us for a night of story-telling as we explore some of the ‘dark stories’ and talk about what we can learn from them as well as our own, personal darkness.
The event is open to all. Old-fashioned refreshments will be served in the church basement following the event. For more information, call the church office at 618.585.3164.
